Well, that might not be the most interesting rhyme ever created, but after the second big NYC snowstorm this year, I’m itching to see some spring. I took a look through my archives and decided to bring out some wedding flowers from last year’s spring weddings to push the season along.
Perhaps you need some final inspiration for your wedding bouquet this year, or you’re just a guy or gal who loves flowers (like me!). Either way, I hope you find something here that you love!
You gotta love the bright color of these gerbera daisy centerpieces from Annie & Bryan’s April wedding at Battery Gardens in New York City. Not to mention the way-cool vintage New York postcards. These replaced table numbers, and this table had a Chrysler Building theme. I love it!
I’ve said it before, but I’ll say it again. I think the peony is my favorite wedding flower. They smell like heaven! This peony bouquet from Kristen and Brad’s May wedding at Il Villaggio in Carlstadt, NJ, had varying shades of pink which complemented every aspect of the wedding.
Kristen’s bridesmaids also carried varying shades of pink in their delicate rose bouquets, all done by Stem & Co. at Smith’s Flowers in Montclair, NJ.
Pink peonies made another appearance at this May wedding at The View on the Hudson in Piermont, NY, with the addition of miniature roses, white gerbera daisies and delicate green and rose fill flowers. I loved the vintage look of this bouquet!
Clean, fresh, white peonies were absolutely perfect for Yaeko and Eric’s May wedding at the Linden Terrace and New Leaf Cafe in Fort Tryon Park in Manhattan.
By the way, peonies are typically in season April-June, so florists have an easier time finding them, and you save a little by purchasing an in-season flower for your spring wedding! Yaeko’s bouquets were done by Opalia Flowers in Brooklyn, NY.
Yaeko’s bridesmaids wore these fragrant gardenias in their hair, which I loved!
And her bridesmaids carried incredibly sweet bouquets made predominantly of white roses and muscari (grape hyacinth).
At Amanda and John’s May wedding at Valenzano Winery in Shamong, NJ, Amanda carried an amazing array of white and pink roses, with accents of purple chamelaucium (also known as wax flower), and red hypericum berries. There was also a hint of paper-white hydrangeas along the base of the bouquet. Gorgeous!
Centerpieces at Amanda’s wedding continued the beautiful mix of colors with purple daisies, white and pink roses, varying hydrangeas, purple chamelaucium, and pink Peruvian lilies.
Later, at this May wedding, a delicate pink peony surrounded by white anemone flowers made for a perfect cake topper. Anemones are really becoming popular this year too, and I wonder how many bouquets I’ll see featuring these flowers in 2010 and 2011. I love the delicate, vintage look of these flowers.
Another May wedding featured a blue bouquet full of delphinium, stephanotis, and lobelia. And I loved these escort cards which also doubled as a sweet floral favor.
At Christine and Drew’s June wedding (the very end of spring!) at the Mansion at Farleigh Dickinson University, Christine carried a bouquet of light and dark pink roses, white and pink peonies and creamy white anemones. Christine’s flowers were done by Beth Noonan of Sycamore Designs.
Christine’s centerpieces were cut roses and carnations, sweetly and delicately floating in a round vase.
Finally, I wanted to highlight this boutonniere with its miniature roses, accented by some unopend white freesia buds. I love it when the groom wears pink!
