When we began planning Lauren and Matt’s session, Lauren told me that she thought ‘Engagement Session’ was a funny title since they had been engaged for months! Hey, I completely understand that; most of my couples book me months after their engagement. And, well, I’m not married to that session title … how about a ‘Just Because’ session instead? :) So that’s what we decided on.
Lauren is planning a beautiful theme for their October wedding … sort of a ‘Spring into Fall’ motif and I had that in mind when I was setting up this shot. Did I get it right Lauren?

I loved the spring buds on the trees, but I also really enjoy this one in a nice warm black and white:
I wasn’t entirely sure if Lauren and Matt were country folk, so I asked if a shot by the barn was cool with them. Turns out Lauren is an equestrian gal, so the barn was a go! We also got a kick out of the pig weather vane. So cute!
We even stepped into the barn for a quick shot. And sure, it wasn’t an engagement session per se, but I still had to get a shot of the ring!
And finally, this covered bridge was so great with a nice tunnel of light filtering in … love it!
Would you have guessed all of these photos were shot at a zoo? The zoo at Van Saun County Park in Bergen County, NJ, to be precise. It’s one of Lauren and Matt’s favorite places and it made a perfect setting for their photos!
