Oh man! I’m gonna love these photos! I can already tell!November 18, 2011 – 10:52 pm
When our busy schedules found us meeting up for their engagement session on a rainy day, Katie and John were remarkably cheery. I’m so glad they brought their positive attitudes. And some rain boots. And an umbrella. Before they got too wet in the rain, we headed over to the Lincoln Park Conservatory for a few shots among the lush greenery, and warmed up with some coffee at the Bourgeois Pig Cafe. I’m so excited to be photographing their wedding next June in New Jersey! And I’m so glad they were willing to be the proof that engagement sessions (and weddings!) can be beautiful in the rain.

Jillian is a fellow naturally curly girl and she’s my cousin-in-law. What’s not to love? I was so excited when she and Dave asked me to schedule their engagement session during a visit to Grand Rapids. What a fantastic city; it has somehow become way cooler than it was when I lived there eight years ago. We started out at the 6th Street Bridge and made our way over to Cherry Street. Strolling past the antique stores on a red brick road made a beautiful backdrop in one of the most happening neighborhoods in the city.
