Rebecca + Nick | Engagement Session

Rebecca and Nick are the kind of couple that makes me feel like I’ve known them forever. They were comfortable enough in front of the camera to carry on a real conversation, and they genuinely enjoy being in each other’s presence - which made me genuinely enjoy being in their presence! They are planning a September 2011 wedding in Nantucket, and during their shoot I couldn’t help but imagine them on the beach in what’s sure to be gorgeous wedding attire! Really, I can’t wait for their wedding. And really, does it have to be a year away?!

Rebecca made a comment about hoping that Nick wouldn’t make her laugh through the entire shoot. That’s OK - I’m a fan of laughter! :)

The park was so beautiful near sunset with the light kissing the top of the trees and the grass looking so soft and green.

I love Rebecca’s diamond solitaire!

For real, how gorgeous is this couple?! :)

Rebecca and Nick, it was a privilege to shoot your engagement pictures. Thank you so much for the time you spent with me! Now, I just can’t wait for your wedding …

Jen + Anthony | Planting Fields at Oyster Bay

Remember Jen & Anthony’s gorgeous wedding from this spring? Well, I was lucky enough to photograph them again! Since they weren’t able to coordinate an engagement session before their wedding, they opted to do a session after the wedding - and it was so much fun! The Planting Fields at Oyster Bay are drop-dead gorgeous in the summertime, so it was the perfect location for their shoot. Here are a few of my favorite photos of this wonderful couple from what I like to call their Just Married! photo session.

Jenn + Phil | An Asbury Park Engagement Session

I don’t know why I’d never been to Asbury Park before this shoot. There are SO. MANY. AMAZING. COLORS. I loved it. I would even shoot there in the rain - which I did with Jenn and Phil! Even though it was misting for the first part of our session, they were troopers and stuck with me to prove that it’s possible to make incredible photographs on a rainy day. Check out my favorites from their engagement session and don’t forget to leave them some love in the comments. :)

Jenn and Phil - I just can’t wait for your wedding next year! You both are so much fun to be around!

I’m in Chicago for a few days!

Hi friends! Just wanted to post a quick note to let you know that I’m in the Windy City August 21-24. I’ll still be easy to reach via e-mail and phone, so please don’t hesitate to e-mail or call. If you’re looking to book a 2011 Chicago, New York, or New Jersey wedding (or 2010 - I have a few dates left!) let me know. I’d love to meet with you while I’m here in Chicago, or in NJ when I return on the 25th!

Since I’ll not be blogging while I’m away from New Jersey, I thought I’d leave you with a few images from some recent weddings, portraits, and engagement sessions. Full blog posts from these shoots are coming up next week! You’re going to love them!

Here’s a peek at Lauren and Jonathan’s gorgeous Spring Lake, NJ, beach wedding:

A glimpse into Jennifer and Phil’s amazing Asbury Park engagement session:

And finally, a sampling of Jen and Anthony’s after-wedding portrait session at the Planting Fields of Oyster Bay, NY:

See you all later next week with lots more photos!

Heidi + Ryan | Engagement Session

I met Heidi and Ryan in their neighborhood for their engagement shoot. They live in the vibrant Ironbound District in Newark, and at first we were going to head straight over to Branch Brook Park for some photos in trees and nature, but I really wanted to incorporate a few of the amazing buildings and backgrounds I saw near their apartment. This neighborhood has tons of character, from the Portuguese influence in the restaurants and architecture, to the Spanish-style churches, to its streets of family homes decorated with lots of color. There is alway something going on in Ironbound, and it’s just steps away from Newark Penn Station and downtown Newark proper. It’s really a happening place, and folks were out shopping, eating, and socializing up and down Ferry Street (the main business district) when I was there to photograph Heidi and Ryan. Oh, and I should mention they were so much fun to photograph!

Ryan told me that this alleyway was usually hidden behind a gate, but the day we were there it was open, and I’m so glad it was. I love the old brick texture and the flood of light all around.

I also couldn’t pass up a quick shot in their doorway to capture the fabulous mustard-colored paint!

I loved the tile work and the combination of yellow, white and green of this typical Ironbound home! There were great textures everywhere for their engagement pictures!

So, after a quick walk around their neighborhood, we headed over to Newark’s largest park, Branch Brook Park, which actually spans about four miles. We only saw a tiny glimpse of all the park had to offer! You see, we weren’t about to walk more than we had to since it was 94 degrees outside! I love their smiles and how it’s so easy for them to have a great time with each other.

After I thought I had shot the final photos of the day, an ice-cream truck started singing nearby. We had to stop for a treat, and I had to shoot a few more frames which ended up being really cute. :)

Heidi and Ryan, thank you so much for sharing an afternoon with me. I had a blast! I can tell your wedding is going to be a fun, laid-back, joyful day and I can’t wait to photograph it!

Corinne + Sabino | An Atlantic City Engagement Session

When Corinne called me to schedule engagement pictures in Atlantic City, where she and Sabino were engaged last year, I was pretty excited. Then, she went on to explain their sense of fashion as a couple. That they like to wear coordinating outfits to parties. And they both love shoes. And that they already had three amazing wardrobe changes planned for the shoot. As if her bubbly personality hadn’t already won me over!

By the time I arrived to see them smiling at each other in front of my camera, I was over the moon. Who doesn’t love being around true love? I seriously have the best job in the world!

Corinne and Sabino met when they were just teenagers, have been together for seven years, and will be married in 2011. I think you’ll be able to see just how deeply in love they are. And I think you’ll love their fashion sense as much as I did. Let me repeat - three cute dresses, three suit/pant ensembles, three sweet pairs of shoes. Photographer’s heaven! I am so happy for them, and just can’t wait to share these images!
