Travel | Pacific Northwest

Joe and I are off on a little vacation to Bellingham before the crazy wedding months of June and July arrive. I’m really looking forward to seeing old friends, hiking a trail or two, and watching all the competitors in the Ski to Sea race. I’ll also be doing a little bit of nothing. :) And it’s going to be great to see mountains again!

Here’s a shot of Mount Shuksan, photographed from Mount Baker on my last visit to the Pacific Northwest. See you all in June!

I’m in Chicago for a few days!

Hi friends! Just wanted to post a quick note to let you know that I’m in the Windy City August 21-24. I’ll still be easy to reach via e-mail and phone, so please don’t hesitate to e-mail or call. If you’re looking to book a 2011 Chicago, New York, or New Jersey wedding (or 2010 - I have a few dates left!) let me know. I’d love to meet with you while I’m here in Chicago, or in NJ when I return on the 25th!

Since I’ll not be blogging while I’m away from New Jersey, I thought I’d leave you with a few images from some recent weddings, portraits, and engagement sessions. Full blog posts from these shoots are coming up next week! You’re going to love them!

Here’s a peek at Lauren and Jonathan’s gorgeous Spring Lake, NJ, beach wedding:

A glimpse into Jennifer and Phil’s amazing Asbury Park engagement session:

And finally, a sampling of Jen and Anthony’s after-wedding portrait session at the Planting Fields of Oyster Bay, NY:

See you all later next week with lots more photos!

On Road Trips and Flying Cars

These past seven days have been a bit of a whirlwind in Sarah Postma Photography land! Just last Tuesday and Wednesday I was shooting engagement sessions in Piermont, NY, in the Hudson River Valley, then down the shore in Atlantic City. After that, I spent a day driving to Chicago, enjoyed 4 days in the Windy City, celebrated my 7th wedding anniversary(!), and drove back to NJ yesterday. Whew! All that driving has me thinking about this whole flying car thing I heard about last week. Did you see this?

While I work hard over the next two days to get weddings edited and engagement sessions posted to the blog, I’ll leave you with a few from Chicago and a glimpse into what’s coming up next. These were shot on the 4th of July in Chicago from a boat out on Lake Michigan and while cruising up the Chicago River.

Also, here’s just a peek at the amazingly fun engagement session of Kelly and Chris, which will hit the blog later this week:

And finally a glimpse at Corinne and Sabino’s incredible Atlantic City engagement session also coming soon to the blog:

Meet me in Chicago over July 4th weekend! | Chicago Wedding and Portrait Photography

I think the Blackhawks just wanted to give me another reason to get excited about my move to Chicago in October. :) I do love hockey, but coming from a Michigan family of die-hard Red Wings fans, transferring my loyalty to a Chicago (winning!) team might be interesting.

So, with the Blackhawks win, I’m even more thrilled to visit the Windy City a few times this summer. Today I want to announce that I will be in Chicago doing portrait sessions and consultations with upcoming wedding clients over the 4th of July weekend!

The official dates I will be in Chicago are Saturday, July 3, through Tuesday, July 6. If you would like to make an appointment during this time to talk about your Chicago wedding, or to schedule a portrait session for your family, children, or engagement session, shoot me an e-mail soon! I would absolutely love to meet you!

And because a blog post is just not complete without a photo, here’s a peek at some gorgeousness from Jillian & Kyle’s wedding - more of these to hit the blog very soon!

WPPI Las Vegas Convention 2010

I had a great time at WPPI this year! It was actually my first time to the annual Las Vegas convention, despite a few years of membership in the organization that sponsors it, Wedding and Portrait Photographers International. While I was there, I took advantage of workshops, tweet-ups, and all of the general fun that was to be had by the nearly 14,000 photographers participating in the event!

Here are a few images from my time there:

Here’s the incredible Marcus Bell chatting with us about style and what he looks for in an image:

I love the lions in the MGM Grand. I had to stop by and say hello to them each day while I was there. :)

A view from the top of Palms Place:

Here’s the uber-talented Amelia Lyon, gearing up to shoot some images of Candice and Mark Brooke during her Lyon-Shop:

Love this couple. They’re 100% sweet and amazing photographers too!

See you next year, Vegas!

Washington DC Photo Weekend

Joe took me on a little road trip to DC last weekend. We actually visited Baltimore as well, and ended up only spending about 5 hours in DC, but it was really nice to get away! (After our drive to and from Michigan over Thanksgiving, a drive to Maryland is like a cake walk.) Although it was really cold, we had a great time wandering down the National Mall. My fingers froze and my camera battery was low (it conked out after about a half hour!) but here are a few snaps I thought you might enjoy:

I love it that there were still a few leaves on the trees here, but everyone was still bundled up in their hats and mittens:

Maybe I got a little carried away with the flags. I just enjoyed the patterns.
