• Hello there! I’m Chicago wedding photographer Sarah Postma. And this is my blog.

I have a simple philosophy: to make photographs that are interesting, meaningful and real.

I enjoy movies with happy endings, fresh-brewed coffee, and live jazz. I love to travel, and I love city lights almost as much as I love mountains.

After living most my life in Michigan, Washington, and New Jersey (just outside of NYC), I now reside in Chicago. I'm currently accepting wedding commissions throughout the United States and other destinations.

I would love to meet you, hear all about the details of your wedding, and have the opportunity to capture the important moments in your life.

Take a peek at some of my latest wedding photography or e-mail me anytime at sarah@sarahpostma.com

I post here at least once a week, so subscribe via rss and come back often!

    All my best,
    Sarah

Sarah + Nate | Part 2| Law Library and Downtown Chicago Engagement Session

Because they’re a little bit country and a little bit city, the second half of Sarah and Nate’s Chicago engagement session took place downtown. First, we spent some time in an incredible private library, then wandered around Buckingham Fountain since it was the first weekend the fountain was turned back on for spring! I’m in complete awe of this library, which once was a working law library but has since been turned into a private event and meeting space. And I’m so delighted by clients who make my job incredibly fun. Sarah and Nate, I can’t wait for your wedding in September!

Oh, what’s that? You missed Part 1 of this shoot? Don’t miss it!

Lisa + Alex | NYC Washington Square Park Engagement Session

It felt so great to be back in NYC last week. I think I grow a little fonder of the city every time I visit, and the hint of spring flowering trees, greening grass, and general buzz of people got me in a really happy mood. Of course, Lisa and Alex made me even happier as they joined me for a marvelous stroll through Greenwich Village and Washington Square Park for their engagement pictures. They dance a little, laughed a lot, and even kept their smiles through a few rain drops. I love that they let down their guard a little and allowed me to capture some sweet moments of romance and find the emotion I’m always seeking when photographing a couple in love. They sure look great together!

Kyle Burnell - Great session Sarah! They’re all awesome but I love the first photo and second to last photo the most :)April 14, 2011 - 10:48 am

Bridal Shoot with Fetch Beauty

Just want to share a few from a bridal shoot I did last week with Amanda Mathes of Fetch Beauty for her forthcoming bridal brand, Posh Elite Beauty. Amanda recently joined forces with the uber-talented hair stylist Jessica Gere of Vito Mazza Salon & Day Spa to provide a complete experience from makeup to hair for her brides. I can’t stop raving about how talented these women are. None of these photos are retouched!
