• Hello there! I’m Chicago wedding photographer Sarah Postma. And this is my blog.

I have a simple philosophy: to make photographs that are interesting, meaningful and real.

I enjoy movies with happy endings, fresh-brewed coffee, and live jazz. I love to travel, and I love city lights almost as much as I love mountains.

After living most my life in Michigan, Washington, and New Jersey (just outside of NYC), I now reside in Chicago. I'm currently accepting wedding commissions throughout the United States and other destinations.

I would love to meet you, hear all about the details of your wedding, and have the opportunity to capture the important moments in your life.

Take a peek at some of my latest wedding photography or e-mail me anytime at sarah@sarahpostma.com

I post here at least once a week, so subscribe via rss and come back often!

    All my best,
    Sarah

Save the Dates are So Much Fun!

Over the holidays, I received some lovely Save the Date cards from a few of my 2011 couples. I love that even though you all know the date is already saved on my calendar, you think to send me one anyway - especially when when you use a photo or two from your engagement session. :) Thanks! I love getting mail. And yes, they absolutely go on my fridge.

I particularly wanted to point out the card below to any planning brides out there who might be looking for a DIY, customizable Save the Date. I recognized it right away because I’ve seen it before on one of my favorite wedding blogs - The Wedding Chicks. Did you know they have a ton of free downloadable DIY projects? Anything from save the dates to invitations to menus. Super cute stuff. You can see them all here.

P.S. This definitely not a sponsored post - just something I really love and wanted to share!

P.P.S. Want to see more from the engagement sessions of the couples above? See Jenn and Phil’s here, Florencia and Jason’s here, and Kelly and Chris’s here.

Jane + Mike | A New Jersey Wedding

It was such a joy to travel from Chicago to New Jersey to capture Jane and Mike’s gorgeous winter wedding. I already knew from their engagement session that I was in for a smile-filled day with two people who absolutely love to laugh!

Jane and Mike have been together for over 10 years, and that was easy to see on their wedding day. Mike has this innate ability to make Jane giggle just by being in the room with her, and Jane doesn’t hold back - her smile as genuine as one can get.

The stunning blue bridesmaid dresses, incredibly detailed white bouquets, and elaborate winter centerpieces were all pretty spectacular, but didn’t hold a candle to how truly beautiful this couple is together.

Jane and Mike - Thank you, thank you, thank you, for trusting me to photograph your wedding. I felt truly at home among your family and friends, and I had a blast celebrating with you! Thank you for making my job truly one of the best in the world.

Jaime + Joe | A Winter Central Park Engagement Session

There are just some couples who are completely at ease with each other. That make each other giggle. That dance like no one else is watching. That are truly beautiful whether they are on-camera or off. Jaime and Joe are just that kind of couple. Their engagement session was full of moments where they forgot about the camera (and the bitter cold) and shared real laughter together as we wandered through Central Park. I love this couple!

They certainly look good together. :)

It was beautiful how the light became so golden during the sunset.

To warm up, we made our way over to Magnolia Bakery‘s Upper West Side location for a few cupcakes. :)

Jaime and Joe - Thank you both so much for such a lovely winter shoot! I had a blast, and I’m even more convinced now that your choice of Florida as your wedding location is spot on. Can’t go wrong with the Sunshine State! :)

Jaime - Truly Incredible Sarah! I love every single one! Thanks for really capturing *Us*!December 22, 2010 - 11:15 am
