Happy Earth Day

Happy Earth Day, one day late! Or is it? As soon as I said, “Happy Earth Day,” to Joe yesterday, he spouted back, “Isn’t Earth Day everyday?”

Point taken.

He knows me and my slightly obsessive earth-friendly tendencies. It is Earth Day everyday in my world. So, in that spirit, here are a few lovely, earthy frames I shot over the course of the last two weeks. I love this time of year!

Ice cream is totally a gift of Mother Earth, right?!

And a little demonstration of the effect of gravity on Earth:

I absolutely adore this biker’s decorating style. There are so many Metro Cards just thrown on the ground in any given subway station, why not decorate your bike with them?!

The rest of these images are from a wedding I shot with the lovely Jen Baer at the Picnic House in Prospect Park. The floral arrangements and centerpieces were drop-dead gorgeous, and I think I met my new favorite florist in Brooklyn: Sarah Brysk Cohen of Blossom and Branch. Her arrangements are so fresh, natural, and whimsical; I’m in love! Sarah, you rock!

Winter Wonderland - Part 2 - Kate and Linzi

Here’s Part Two of my Winter Wonderland shoot; minus the dreamy winter snow scenes. I guess Washington D.C. kept all the snow for themselves last weekend!

Kate and Linzi braved the chilly temps and wind to model for Kyle and me. We took quite a few warm-up breaks in the Chelsea Market nearby and did most of the shooting on the High Line and around 9th and 15th.

^^^ See all that snow on the ground in the photo above?^^^ Yep, that’s all we got in NYC on Saturday!

Linzi is a designer in her own right, and she made this amazing orange coat herself.

Linzi also designed the outfit that Kate is wearing. I love fashion talent!

Sarah & Drew - A Central Park Engagement Session

This is one of those blog posts where I just want to start typing a bunch of exclamation points; I’m so excited to share these images. Really!!!!!!! I love this couple! (There, I got it out of my system.) ;)

Sarah and Drew are such a fun-loving couple and their attitude is contagious. I found myself laughing right along with them, and in all of our rambling around Central Park, I think I became just as excited about their wedding as they are. I don’t know what else to say except that I wouldn’t mind speeding right through winter to get to this wedding. But, for now, let’s get to the engagement photos!

I love that there were so many leaves out on the Great Lawn and the light was just right:

Drew is so good at making Sarah laugh!

We headed over to Bethesda Terrace to get a few images by the Angel of Waters Fountain. This place is always packed, and it was especially so on this amazing day, but I love that we managed to minimize the extra people in this shot.

They’re relaxed, happy, and in love. Makes for good engagement photos!

I was so thrilled when I looked through these branches of colorful leaves to find perfect placement for each of their faces. :)

This willow tree is one of my absolute favorite spots in Central Park. I loved it in the spring when I shot Neha & Joe’s engagement session, and here it is again with the leaves about ready to fall:

This couple is good at every look: romantic, joyful, serious. Here they are being fabulously fierce:

And incredibly cute:

There is such an awesome mix of natural daylight and fluorescent lights in this space:

So happy:

The colors on this afternoon were perfect. The last bit of autumn, and I think the best way to spend a day like this is by making photographs!

Finally, this is one of my absolute favorites. I just love everything about it:

Wow, Sarah and Drew, you guys are so much fun! I can’t wait for your wedding next year!
